What is it and what is it for?
Aboca has developed MeliLax Pediatric, a honey-based microenema that, with an evacuating action, induces a non-aggressive stimulus to activate defecation, in addition to exerting an important protective action on the rectal mucosa.
Constipation is a very common and often underestimated disorder that affects the entire population: children, adults and especially the elderly. However, the balance of the intestine is essential for the health of the entire organism. It is important to be able to evacuate the intestine with a product that respects the physiology of the body.
MeliLax Pediatric: suitable for the little ones, with a smaller format
Throughout childhood there may be situations that facilitate the appearance of constipation, even if it is temporary. Generally the problem resolves naturally within a few months, but it can create continued concern for parents because the child often reacts with hysterical crying spells.
The causes that can cause constipation are several: the inability to relax the anal sphincter, the type of feeding (for example when changing from breast milk to formulated milk), the introduction of the first solid intakes and a low consumption of fiber (little fruit and vegetables) or water. Other critical moments can be travel and illnesses, such as fever that dehydrates the child.
From 2 to 4 years of age, the child frequently resists the urge to defecate and retains feces voluntarily, even for days. This increases the dryness of the stool, which, being harder, is more difficult to expel, causing pain during its passage through the anus. In this way, a vicious circle is created, since the child memorizes the pain he has felt during defecation, retaining the feces even more to try to avoid it.
When it is necessary to help children with a stimulus that makes evacuation less difficult, it is important to have a product that exerts an evacuating action and that also soothes and protects the rectal mucosa.
The local action of MeliLax Pediatric allows the treatment of constipation in this delicate age group.
When can a child be considered constipated?: When the stools are dry and hard and are passed infrequently (less than 3 times a week) and with difficulty and pain.
How to use?
Open the microenema by removing the safety cannula cover:
Hold the white round ring located on the bellows;
With the other hand, bend the cannula cover until it breaks and completely separates the ring.
Remove the cannula cover.
Apply a few drops of product to the perianal area and gently introduce the cannula into the rectum.
Completely compress the microenema and, once the application is finished, keep it pressed until the cannula is completely extracted, to prevent the product from being re-aspirated.
