What is it and what is it for?
Dulcolaxo tablets are a stimulant-type laxative, derived from diphenylmethane. It acts by stimulating peristalsis of the colon, by direct action on the mucosa. It produces an accumulation of fluids and electrolytes in the intestinal lumen. The action begins after 6-10 hours, orally, or 15-60 minutes, rectally.
It is used for:
- Facilitate intestinal evacuation in case of hemorrhoids and anal fissures.
- Symptomatic treatment of occasional constipation

How to use?
The recommended dose of Dulcolaxo tablets in adults is:
- 1 tablet (5 mg bisacodyl) daily before bedtime. If necessary, 2 tablets will be taken.
- Always use the lowest dose that is effective.
Use in children and adolescents
- The recommended dose in adolescents and children over 10 years of age is 1 tablet (5 mg of bisacodyl) per day before bedtime. If necessary, 2 tablets will be taken.
- Always use the lowest dose that is effective.
- Children from 2 to 10 years
- Children from 2 to 10 years old can take this medicine only under medical supervision.
- 1 tablet (5 mg bisacodyl) daily before bedtime.
- Children under 2 years
- Children under 2 years of age cannot take this medication, it is contraindicated for them.
The tablets should be administered whole, without chewing, at night, with a little liquid other than milk.
They should not be taken with products that reduce acidity, such as milk, antacids or proton pump inhibitors so that the enteric coating does not dissolve prematurely.
Composition
Each tablet of Dulcolaxo gastro-resistant tablets contains 5 mg of bisacodyl.
Excipients: sucrose, lactose, corn starch, glycerol (E-422), magnesium stearate, talc, gum arabic, titanium dioxide (E-171), copolymer of methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate (1:1), copolymer of methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate (1:2), castor oil, macrogol 6000, yellow iron oxide (E-172), white wax, carnauba wax and shellac.
Warnings and Contraindications
An adequate daily intake of fluids and fiber, responding quickly to the stimulus of defecation, and performing physical exercise are recommended.
This medication should not be used by patients with intestinal obstructions.
Continued use may cause habituation.
If after 1 week of use, constipation does not improve, persists or worsens, or if symptoms such as nausea or vomiting, abdominal swelling or fever appear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.
